A Throng That Won’t Thaw | Anna Zgambo

A Throng That Won’t Thaw

Normal means freezing

Like an ice block

When you knock on the car.

My husband turns into an icicle,

Traffic lights bleed torment.

Your knuckle gnaws the window—

Our children crystallize

In the freezer of the Sienna.

Honking for green, I am normality

Hardening under a seatbelt—

Listening to my family’s sanity.
